WATER ICE

1.HOW DO GLACIERS SHAPE THE LAND ?

Among the legacies of Earth's most recent ice age are landforms shaped by glaciers .Glaciers are powerful forces and can topple or crush any thing in their paths . While they seem to be frozen still and solid , they are actually moving , craving and churning the land beneath and around them.

2.WHAT IS AN ICEBERG?
An iceberg forms when a large chunk of ice claves, or breaks off from a glacier and falls into the sea. The word comes from the dutch ijsberg, ice hill.

Icebergs are formed of fresh water not salt water. The water in icebergs is so pure that in some places chunks of iceberg are removed and melted and the resulting water is used in cooking and brewing.

In the Northern Hemisphere most icebergs originate from glacier on Greenland and they often drift south ward into the North Atlantic Ocean. In the Southern Hemisphere glaciers frequently clave from glaciers in Antarctica.

BONUS FACT :
TOTAL VOLUME OF WATER ON EARTH EQUALS SOME 336 MILLION CUBIC MILES.
